Dolce & Gabbana 'Dolce'

Today's post features what is probably the most beautiful perfume bottle I have ever seen. I am talking about the new 'Dolce' by Dolce & Gabbana as the title suggests, and I can still remember the first time I laid my eyes on a photo of the bottle online, only back in February that was, and how I excitedly tweeted about it three seconds later:

See? It was love at first sight!

Its juice was green, it had a classy black bow tie, it had the most beautiful perfume flower topper ever ( to pay tribute to Sicilian customs, crafted to portray the marzipan sculptures seen in traditional Sicilian confectioners) and it was announced to be a white floral, which is my favourite ever perfume group! My most treasured and beloved scents from my ever growing collection belong to this group. All in all, it was going to be a success for my nose, and boy was I right!

Created as a tribute to beautiful Sicily, the perfume contains White Amaryllis, a South African flower used for the first time ever in scent.

“The nobility of the soul, the elegance of every day gestures, the joy of sharing from generation to generation, and the effortless perfection of a single white flower. This is the picture of Sicily that I carry within me, and the one captured in this delicate fragrance," says Domenico Dolce.

“Dolce is a contemporary fragrance inspired by a memory. The originality is not just in the way it was created, using traditional essences and other brand-new ingredients, but also because it is the translation into fragrance of a young new love that will, by virtue of its innocence, retain its youthful vitality," adds Stefano Gabbana.

So what is the juice like? Well let me tell you it smells exactly what its bottle would predict.

Top notes: Neroli leaves, Papaya flower
Heart notes: White Amaryllis, White Daffodil, White Water Lily
Dry down notes: Cashmeran, Musky notes, Sandalwood
Olfactive family: Floral, rich white floral

It would be wrong for me to pretend that I know the individual smell of each note and ingredient used here, so I will do what I need to in this scenario, and that is, quote you the press release in this regard:

"Dolce is a gentle, feminine mix of white flowers, introduced by the freshness of the Neroli leaves and defined by the White Amaryllis, a South African flower used for the first time ever in scent. The fragrance opens with a brightly-coloured, sweet-smelling explosion of Neroli leaves and Papaya flower, dissipating into a floral bouquet as the core of the fragrance emerges. A unique and opulent combination of White Water Lily and bold White Daffodil blend perfectly with the full-bodied White Amaryllis. This floral signature is counterbalanced by the background of warm Musky notes, along with the complex accents of Cashmeran; leaving a sensual trail of light woods, earthy tones and piquant spices."

What I can add here is that this stunning floral blend evokes Spring into my mind, and as a March fragrance launch I would suspect it is also marketed as very much suitable for this season, its feminine, subtle yet free spirited ways recommend it as a 'must-sniff' for everyone looking for a new scent to love this Spring. It's a well built fragrance, with good sillage and has a decent lasting power on me (circa 5 hours on my skin - scents however do tend to disappear on me fairly quickly), and it's definitely one I will enjoy using this Spring.

I tried this at the weekend and am RAGING I didn't buy it there and then. It's absolutely lush, such a gorgeous scent for spring. It will be mine ASAP.
