When it comes to budget brands you really can't go more budget-y than with NYC Cosmetics, and cheap doesn't always mean poor quality by all means, and I have two brilliant products today to demonstrate you (and me!) just that.
I was sent these products by the brand on Thursday and I was quite delighted to have received their Color Instinct quad in the shade that I've been looking for ages, shade 967 'Picnic in Central Park' which was always sold out from the NYC stands I came across in my endless quest. This costs 3.49 Euro and it's bleedin' gorgeous if you ask me, if you're on a budget and love shimmery neutrals, then you'll love this palette. The formula of these is identical between them, soft and creamy and very pigmented. I wish the darker shade would come in a bigger size, but I guess these were created in a clever 'light, medium, dark' kind of way, knowing that the medium shades would be mostly used all over the eyelids, and the rest will be used in smaller amounts on the outer and inner corners of the eyes respectively.

NYC KOHL KAJAL 'CHOCOLATE BROWN'
Now with that, a tiny little gem of an eyeliner was screaming at me from the bunch, since I adore brown eyeliners and think they're not just perfect for Autumn, but fabulous when one wants a true smouldering smoky eye look, it performs much better than black in my opinion. Plus, brown brings out the green in my eyes and that is enough of a reason for me. The shade I was sent is called 'Chocolate Brown' and it's absolutely gorgeous. Let me explain why.
The consistency of it is waxy yet soft and manageable, pigmented and very easy to work with, especially if you use eyeliners as an eyeshadow base as a general rule. Which in fact you'll see I did on the look below. This costs 1.49 Euro, I repeat: 1.49 Euro, people! And It's such a brilliant product, even performs grand on the waterline and it's creamy and gives you enough time to blend it and work with before drying.
Step 1: Kohl Kajal 'Chocolate Brown' - on the lash line, both upper and lower & blend
Step 2: Shade 1 (Bronze) - all over the upper eyelid and lower lash line, and blend (blend past the crease of the upper eyelid for a smokier effect)
Step 3 - Kohl Kajal 'Chocolate Brown' - on the waterline
Step 4: Shade 2 (dark taupe) on the outer corner of the eye, keeping it close to the upper lash line, and same on the lower lash line
Step 5: Shade 3 (icy white) on the inner corner of the eye
Step 6: Shade 4 (muted pink) on the centre of the upper eyelid and same in the centre of the lower lash line
Step 7: Mascara of choice, and lots of it
So there you have it: 1.49 + 3.49 = 4.98 also known as 'not too shabby'!
