Rimmel Apocalips

Sick of hearing and reading about the new Rimmel London Apocalips??? Yeah, me too, it's like the Universe wants us to buy and love them, and you know what? I caved in, it's not like I'm one to resist a good old much raved about lip product, so I bought it! I must say though, the shade 'Apocalyptic' which was the only one I wanted, gave me a huge headache. This was sold out everywhere I looked, either completely gone off the shade selection on the stands, or else only a couple left and all opened for swatches - like one tester product is never enough for some, they need to bloody open everything!

But worry not my dear friends, for yesterday I found a brand new, unopened 'Apocalyptic' shade and as soon as I discovered it, I literally ran to the cash point to pay for it. If there is an 'IT' shade for all bright lipsticks, then my good fellow lipsticks lovers, this is IT, IT I tell you! *too much excitement*

RIMMEL APOCALIPS, Price: 7.95 Euro

The applicator is just beautiful, flexible and manageable and has the perfect shape for precision- which you need with these, trust me!

Clarins Splendours Collection (Summer 2013)

Well if the Clarins Summer 2013 Limited Edition collection won't make you scream for more sun rays,  I don't know what else will....or maybe I do, this collection or the bloody rain we're always having (take your pick & scream). Sun or no sun, the Clarins summer collection has hit the stores this month and it's as pretty and summery as pretty & summery can be, inspired by a pre-Columbian civilization that worshipped the Sun with some of the products' packaging and actual make-up embossed with pretty solar symbols.

*Part 'Splendours' Collection Press Samples*

RRP: 39 Euro

The eye pallette's packaging is simply stunning, however I failed at photographing it in all its glory, therefore I highly recommend that you pop over to Karen's website to take a look at her fabulous photos & not only, she actually succeeded in capturing its beauty!

Tip of the Day: Mattify & Lighten Your Lipsticks

If you're anything like me then you really love your bright, matte lipsticks in all their shapes and sizes, but what happens when you find the perfect shade, but in a glossy finish eh? It's simple, you take out your face/translucent powder and mattify the bastard out :).

Apply a small amount of translucent powder on your finger, and dab it over your lipstick, and while the shade will change slightly, you'll be left with a gorgeous pair of matte lips. This will also add to the longevity in wear, so it's a win-win situation!  If you have a powder eyeshadow/blusher in the exact same shade as your lipstick, then do the same thing and this will not change the shade, but instead will work perfectly!

This also goes when you want to lighten your lipsticks, so if your shade is too much/bright for you, then apply the same 'tool' in the same way, and you'll be left with a lighter version of the initial shade. Simples!

MAC 'Rebel' Lipstick

Have you ever used translucent powder for any of these purposes before?

Battle of Mascaras: L'Oreal Paris

A while back I took advantage of a fabulous offer in Boots and bought two L'Oreal Paris mascaras for 22 Euro, which my friends was a total and utter bargain I tell you! Now if you're new to this L'Oreal business, they sure are well known for being at the higher end of drugstore make-up, and by that I mean price wise. While the quality is there indeed, their prices will leave you feeling cold and sad, with their mascaras going up to 17 Euro each, for the good ones that is. That being said, the mascaras I bought on offer are indeed serious business and are worth the money in all fairness. So we have the Volume Million Lashes Luminizer (in 'Black Amethyst') versus False Lash Telescopic (in 'Magnetic Black') in the battle today, so stick around if you want to see who wins this!

Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10 for Eyes & Lashes

Today's post is really a pleasure to write. Following the big hit that was the Liftactiv Serum 10 face serum from Vichy, the new Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10 for Eyes & Lashes landed into pharmacies nationwide back in March, and this sure makes for a good land I tell you!

Anti ageing - Tick!
Illuminating - Tick!
Eyelash fortifying - Tick!....Well tickle me feathers, this is perfection!

According to the Press Release, this new product from Vichy contains 10% Rhamnose, Illuminators and Ceramides:

"RHAMNOSE - Rhamnose is the first natural active ingredient capable of stimulating activity in the papillary dermis, the driving force behind youthful skin. Reduces wrinkles, improves skin tone, diminishes the appearance of under eye circles and has a spectacular firming and smoothing effect.
HIGH TOLERANCE ILLUMINATORS - Specially selected micro-pearls coated in delicate pearl shimmer and fine particles to ensure a luminous and brightened result.
CERAMIDES - A natural element of young eyelashes, ceramides reinforce lashes, strengthen and give volume to lashes. Vichy have selected a family of ceramides that act like a conditioner for the eyelashes."
