Ever since I first saw the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector featured in Lisa Eldridge's videos, I knew I would at some stage need to investigate further. Lisa is a big fan of this particular highlighter and whatever Lisa recommends, it's usually a knocker!
Two months ago, I was contacted by a lovely PR Rep. for an Irish beauty website called 'beautymatters.ie' and she kindly offered to send me some products (for consideration purposes) to review on my blog. By blind luck, one of the products she sent me was the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in shade 'Opal'. Now this little baby deserves a mention on the blog I tell you, for as soon as I opened its box I knew I would cherish and love it forever.
In the pics to follow you'll be able to notice some differences in lighting, the swatches are photographed in artificial lighting, yet my *papped* face is taken in daylight, as an eejit that I am, I forgot to take some proper pics of the product in natural daylight, and I've had and used this for months now. How's that for a responsible beauty blogger?
Before a very interesting and fantastic press event held last week at the trendy Beauty Bootcamp in Dublin, I must admit that the only products I knew and tried from Smashbox were their much coveted primers, one of which I reviewed back in 2010 here. After this particular event, I must now confess that I am tres intrigued by this brand and am currently trialling some utterly fantastic products from them.
This post however will be one of an informative nature, showcasing the Smashbox Holiday 2012 Collection, quite deservingly named 'Studio Pop', due to the fabulous colours and textures featured, perfect for a photo-ready festive make-up look.
First up, the Studio Pop Eye Palette which retails at 49 Euro a 'pop', and comprises of sixteen Photo Op Eyeshadows, four cream eye liners (bottom row) and the exclusive 'Get the Look' cards which provide step-by-step guides to achieving the perfect festive eye makeup look. Now again, that's SIXTEEN eyeshadows and FOUR cream eye liners in this palette, and if you ask me, for 49 Euro that's a pure and sheer, obvious bargain. I don't know exactly how much the pans weigh individually, but the palette looks pretty big I tell you!
The second item is the Studio Pop for Lips which contains three Lip Enhancing Glosses and two Reflection High Shine Lip Glosses, and the latter is according to the press release, formulated with hyaluronic acid and antioxidant Vitamin E, as well as light reflective pearl for a high-shine wet look result. The set retails at 25 Euro.
And then there was this bad boy, the Studio Pop for Eyes set which comprises of four creamy eye liners as well as a travel size Full Exposure Mascara, retailing at 27 Euro....beautiful stuff!
The Studio Pop collection is fantastic if you ask me, with products that come in beautiful tin cases, perfect for gifting them to your loved ones, and if you're anything like me, to yourselves, why not? I personally have my eye on that eyeshadow palette, as if I don't have enough eyeshadows to last me five lifetimes, but hey-ho! A girl's gotta buy what a girl's gotta have :).
Smashbox Cosmetics and the Studio Pop Collection is available to purchase now, online and on counters in Boots Stores nationwide and Arnotts.
Having a difficult time choosing fragrances for your loved ones this Christmas? Of course you are, because perfumes are so personal, it can often be a 'hit or miss' result and smelling all the beautiful bottled perfumes is just not an option for your poor nose sometimes. And even if by some divine power you do get to smell *everything*, you can still get it wrong and with the price of perfumes one cannot afford to -splash and crash- these days!
Exclusively at Debenhams Henry Street in Dublin 1, Scentlab is a breakthrough innovation in the world of fragrances, designed especially for these types of situations when you find yourself in the middle of shelves full of tens of perfumes, but with no idea on what exactly would suit the person you are gifting (even when that person is *yourself*).
On a user friendly touchscreen through a general short questionnaire, Scentlab will select three perfumes at the end of the 'test' which best suit the taste, lifestyle and personality of the person you are buying for
So for this month especially, I've been really big into darker shades and in particular Avon nail polishes, they're simply fantastic, quite fast drying, really, really long lasting (think seven consecutive days of wear) and deadly shade selection wise. I've been wearing 'Tweed' non stop and as I type, 'Red Reveal' is shining on my nails right now.
Ahoy ladies and gents, I have just found my perfect nude lip product, 'Nude Religion' Lip Liner by Catrice or as I love to refer to: 'the nude of my life'!
We all know how pretentious nude lip colours can be, in my opinion it's not the perfect red shades that are tricky to find for each skin tone in part, but instead good nudes are the ones that are pretty darn hard to find. Be it with a pink undertone, brown or peach, the perfect nude lip colour has to be almost tailor-made to make you look alive and not corps-y looking. I've long wanted a great natural shade to go with a cool smoky eye make-up and I must say 'I finally found THE one'.
