Following its bigger sister - 'Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-in-One BB Cream' that launched sometime in the summer of last year, a new Garnier formula is being brought to the table starting this month, a formula suitable for combination to oily skin.
First things first, I have never tried a BB cream before, which is something marketed as a 'your skin but better' solution, full of skin beneficial ingredients, a cross between a light foundation and a tinted moisturizer. And I usually stop in my research there, because 'tinted moisturizer' just scares me, not enough coverage to play with and too much moisture for my combination to oily skin. So enough said that a BB cream is as much of an interest to me as the best fake tan out there....nada, zero, zip! In fact, I never read articles, blog posts, watch YouTube videos on this matter whatsoever!
So naturally kind of the same thing happened when I received a sample of Garnier's new BB Cream intended for combination to oily skin. It's not that I'm a full coverage foundation type of girl, I used to be one, but now I'm navigating towards medium coverage, buildable, demi-matte finishes with a slight tendency towards 'healthy looking skin' (pretentious much?).
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Nice little tube, well not as little if you look closely cause this is actually a 40ml tube, while your regular foundations come in 30ml size per general. The packaging looks quite neat and simple. Because it's in a tube, you can more or less control the amount dispensed by the neat nozzle, and I say more or less because the formula is quite light and runny, so accidents can happen (and with me, I *know* they will happen :(), but nonetheless I like the packaging.
FORMULA
Hydrating, excess sebum fighting properties, with uncoated mineral pigments to even out skin tone and conceal imperfections. As specified above, it has a runny consistency but this stuff is highly pigmented, which brings me to the next step....
COVERAGE AND LASTING ABILITIES
A bloody great coverage if you ask me! It literally covers very well, it's more on the medium side with this one, and I shall go as far as comparing this to Benefit's Hello Flawless Foundation, for it pretty much ticks all the boxes. If anything, this gives a better finish in the sense that it is not as dewy and it lasts longer on the skin believe it or not. It's 8.52 p.m. as I write this, and I've been wearing this (with a mineral powder on top) since about 1 pm, and the only place I needed touching-up during the day was on my chin area, which is the oiliest part of my face anyway.
CONCLUSION
Formula: Great! SPF of 20, unlike the big sister with SPF 15 only
Price: Fantastic! RRP: 14.99Euro
Lasting Abilities: Very good!
Shade Selection: Extremely poor :(. This will be available in two shades: light & medium, mine is 'light' and fortunately it suits my skin tone greatly, but this might not be the case with you :( .
So to pick up from all the above: the only bad thing I can say about this is that Garnier needs to bring new shades to the market. I am personally well impressed with this, and would see it suitable for all skin types not just combo to oily. An overall excellent product, that I'll be more than happy to wear at work (yes, that's the ultimate statement for a foundation with me, all the other not-so-great ones in my collection are for weekends only!).
How do you feel about BB Creams?

I tried the first one that came out but it made my face far too shiny, im dying to try this now ..looks great on you :)
I love BB cream. I've been using them for 2 years now.
i love your review! but does this cause break outs? :'(, im dying to try this!
Glad you enjoyed reading this. I do get blocked pores from some heavier/full coverage foundations which often cause me breakouts, but with this one I find it does not affect my skin in any bad way, if more, I feel it somehow helps my skin if that makes any sense. When I remove my foundation in the evening I never find my skin to be sensitive or irritated in any way when using this. I cannot however say that it won't cause you breakouts, but I truly hope it doesn't :). Try getting a sample first, bring a tiny sample pot in Boots with you and squeeze a bit of product into it to trial before purchasing ;) xx
