Maybelline Color Tattoos

I would assume that you are sick of seeing these everywhere by now (like I am), but  one more review in your update list won't do you any harm  now will it?

I've been wanting these ever since I first saw them featured on, they looked so gorgeous and unique in formulation, just what I was missing in my ever so growing makeup collection.

First, these are bloody hard to find in stores, Boots for example always have circa four shades on stands, which for us ladies let's face it, is not enough. I for one want the entire collection right there at my reach, so I can swatch and mix and match whichever way I want. So needless to say I am not impressed to start with.

Out of a four shade selection :( , I left Boots the other day with two little pots that suited my liking, retailing at circa 7 Euros each. I bought 'On and On Bronze' and 'Eternal Gold'.

First Impressions:

'On and On Bronze' is a gorgeous metallic taupey shade, while 'Eternal Gold' I expected it to be like a creamy gold formula that glides on like a dream. I couldn't be more wrong, Eternal Gold is just crushed gold glitter in a cream base, instead of a shimmery metallic gold cream, you can see and feel the chunks of glitter running in the formula.

Lasting Abilities:

Not great. These might be and indeed they are fabulous as an eyeshadow base, but when worn on their own, they don't last. They dry fairly quickly after application but start to crease within a few hours of wear. They're not as long lasting or as heavily pigmented as the Rimmel Colour Mousse or the Collection 2000 Metallic Cream Eyeshadows are in my opinion.

I like 'On and On Bronze' a lot, but I could have defo lived without 'Eternal Gold'. I might have had too high expectations for them formula and result wise and I do feel a bit disappointed at this stage. But that being said I am still going to hunt down (I literally have to with these babies!) Pomegranate Punk and Tough as Taupe, two shades I haven't seen anywhere but badly need in my makeup kit.

How do you feel about the Maybelline Color Tattoos? And has anyone seen 'Pomegranate Punk' and 'Tough as Taupe' anywhere in Dublin? Help a sister out please :).

Yours, ArtDonatella

Want the bronze and the taupe, but have some similar shades in Rimmel and Shiseido. They seemed a bit glittery to me in the shops and so far couldn't swatch any, all the tester pots were empty or dry. Should i stay out?

@YourBeauty - Well forget about Eternal Gold then, we have similar tastes here. But the 'On and On Bronze' makes a great eyeshadow base which is why I want to try the other two as well :)...I'd say give them a go anyway if you spot a 3 for 2 offer of some sort :) xo

Pomegranate Punk isn't sold in the UK (or Ireland, I think) and Tough as Taupe is called 'Permanent Taupe' over here, maybe why you couldn't find them?

I am torn on these I think they are a great dupe for paint pots but *gasp* paint pots smudge in my lids so they are not my first
Choice but they are good value versions
